I knew I would step into my mother’s shoes at some point, but I never would have guessed it would be this early! A few days ago, Gucci headed by the new creative director Alessandro Michele who managed to completely reinvent the italian brand, were launching the SS15 lookbook campaign, a collection you either love or hate, there’s no other mean. The previous collection certainly anticipated the 70s spirit and the reign of retro inspired pieces, a return to Italy in the early 70s – the time when Alessandro was born. Ruffled sleeves, berets, models dressed up as Elton John, the exhumation of lurex, pleats, jackets with fur at hems or sleeves (you don’t want to know what frenzy I’m in, looking for a fur hem coat) and the most ugly shoes our parents use to wear, are just a few recurring elements of the collection. Don’t get me wrong, I love all shoes from their collection, but to most mortals they are plain ugly, horrible, repelling. It’s almost as if these people went back in the past to steal the wardrobe of period of time and bring it back unaltered, in the exact same formula, with the exact same styling. If your parents still posses some of their teenage years clothing, take it and wear it, other people pay thousands of euros  for that look. Suddenly, I crave for a second hand shopping session!

Berlin, XXL glasses, flamingo birds and a Studio 54 vibe – we’re travelling back in time!
