Athens Part II

Long story short: I love visiting, Andreas doesn’t. So we met half way and decided to visit only the most important landmarks, from a vast cultural multitude of temples, museums, archaeological sites, streets, constructions or ruins. Of course that Acropolis stood at the top of this list, the most known ancient citadel, a symbol of Athens that reunites aspects of the Hellenic civilization for a period of almost one millennium.

Stretched over 7.5 acres, the Acropolis from Athens is the kind of landmark you must see in a lifetime. Once arrived at the base of the rocky hill, the structures and monuments that reveal themselves at every step you take, the beauty, greatness and cultural weight of every little marble corner, betrays our inferiority in front of an ancient wonder which still raises questions on how it was built. From the puzzle like columns of the Parthenon, to the amazing full view of Acropolis you get, the great citadel makes you curious of experincing a a tiny bit of the days when the Acropolis was populated by the ancient greek people and governed by their gods.

From the Acropolis to shopping is only a small step as only one metro station separates you from the pedestrian streets filled with shops, coffee places or taverns. Either you choose to buy from international retailers, local greek brands, or the bazaars and flea markets, shooping in Athens is a great pleasure and adventure. Especially way you can always take a pizza break between two shops!
