MET Gala 2015

m1

The 2015 MET Gala, maybe the most expected red carpet event, dedicated to the annual fundraising for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, kept us on the edge while waiting for the red carpet photos with the looks worn by guests. With Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor in chief, as a chair since 1995, with a staggering ticket price of 25.000$ and a exclusive list of 650-700 guests, this year’s theme focused around the influences and the asian culture, CHINA: Through the looking glass. Why is this event so covered? Of course, because of the fashion panache celebrities and guests perform on the carpet, which surclasses by far the Oscars.

This year’s theme was quite debated, having the racism and cultural insesitivity problem raised, though the fact that some guests chose to wear certain elements from the Chinese culture, as well as a few jokes or lines around the event theme do not appoint a superior attitude against the chinese culture, afterall, fashion is supposed to be fun, so some people who got offended should really learn to loosen up and have a pinch of fun.

Maybe what was due to be more disputed was the fact that again, some guests completely ignored the dressing attire and the theme, lacking respect and originality, so I really don’t get why blame Sarah Jessica Parker’s head piece, or Rihanna’s outfit, while some trivial or uninspired looks wore highly acclaimed or worse, named best looks of the night.

Whic outfit did you like best and which outfit did you totally hate?

There are far more outfits that  belong in the  ‘WORST DRESSED’ category but they don’t even deserve to be in my list. Seriously, how is it possible that so many celebrities allow themselves to present in such an awful manner at such a highly fashion forward event? It’s a mystery to me.

Good job, girl!
